Blocky Blast Puzzle — Play Free Online

Blocky Blast Puzzle is a block-placing puzzle by OPlay Games, released on Poki in April 2024 as the studio's first game there. You get a grid and a tray of coloured shapes, and your job is to fit those shapes onto the grid without ever running out of room. Nothing falls from above and Classic has no time limit, so you can think over each move.

How a turn works

The tray always holds three pieces. You drag each one onto the board with the mouse, or with a finger on a touch screen, and only when all three are placed does a fresh set appear. Whenever a full horizontal row or full vertical column forms, its cells vanish; the game calls this a Block Blast. Before you let go of a piece, the board lights up the lines that would be cleared, which makes it easy to check a placement first. The run is over when none of the pieces in the tray fits anywhere.

Points and combos

A single cleared line is worth 10 points. Clearing lines on consecutive turns builds a combo counter that multiplies every later clear, so one line on a fifth combo already pays 50. Go 3 moves without a clear and the counter drops back to zero. Clearing several lines with one piece also opens up a big part of the board at once.

Classic and Adventure

• Classic: an endless board where the only goal is to survive as long as you can and push your high score.
• Adventure: levels with a target. Coloured gems are stuck inside blocks on the grid, and you free them by clearing the lines they sit in until you have collected the number the level asks for.

Helpers in the build

• Skip throws away a whole set of three pieces when the draw is bad; it can be used as often as you like.
• Save box: drag a shape into the slot below the grid to hold it for a later turn.
• Revive: when you are stuck, watching an ad lets you carry on with your score intact.
• Themes: switch the block colours to pink, light blue, pink-blue, neon or white, or keep the default set.

A stats screen tracks two achievements: your total score, which earns bronze, silver and gold milestones, and the running count of blocks you have destroyed.

Tips

• Look at the highlighted lines before releasing a piece, and pick the spot that clears something.
• Use the save box for the piece that does not fit this turn instead of forcing it into a bad spot.
• Try to clear at least once every three placements to keep the combo multiplier alive.
