What Typing Fighter is

Typing Fighter is a street-fighting game where your keyboard is the weapon. It was made by MarketJS, a studio that also has Power Badminton, Ludo Hero and Super Girl Story on Poki, and it was released there in April 2021. Instead of learning button combos, you win fights by typing the sentence on the screen as fast and as cleanly as you can. Every correct letter feeds your fighter's attack, so better typing turns straight into harder hits.

That makes it part fighting game and part typing trainer. Poki files it under action, skill and fighting games, and its own summary describes it as a way to build up keyboard speed.

How a fight works

Two fighters stand in an arena, each with a health bar. A line of text appears on screen, and the letter you need to type next is highlighted. Type it right and the box lights up as a success; type it wrong and it is marked as a mistake. As you type you also fill an energy bar, and that stored power is what lets your fighter land the bigger moves. Fights are played in rounds, and each health bar drops as the hits land.

The sentences are drawn from a pool of more than two hundred motivational phrases and quotes.

Controls

• Computer: type the shown sentence on your physical keyboard.
• Phone or tablet: an on-screen keyboard appears, including a backspace key, and you tap the letters instead.

There are no movement keys to learn. Every punch and kick comes from the text you type.

Fighters

The game files hold animation sets for two male and two female fighters, each with their own look, plus hit and dust effects for the blows they trade.

Tips

• Accuracy matters as well as speed: the game rewards typing that is both quick and correct with its strongest attacks, and a wrong key is flagged at once.
• Keep an eye on the energy bar. It shows when you have stored enough for a power move.
