What Super Falling Fred is

Super Falling Fred is a ragdoll skill game from Dedalord, a studio based in Argentina. It belongs to their Fred series, the same family as Running Fred and Skiing Fred, and it arrived on Poki in June 2019. The setup is simple: Fred drops into a deep shaft, and you steer his tumbling body so that he survives the fall for as long as possible. The longer he keeps falling, the more points you earn.

How to play

All movement is on the arrow keys. Use them to keep Fred clear of the shaft walls and of the obstacles that come up at him as he drops. The developer's own description singles out his skull as the part to keep away from any hit. The game tracks how many meters you have fallen, so each attempt gives you a distance to beat.

Poki lists the browser version as a keyboard game for computers rather than for phones. An app version of the game also exists.

Coins, power-ups and characters

Coins float in the shaft on the way down. Grab them during a run and spend them on power-ups or on new characters. The power-ups found in the game's files include a slow-motion effect and a meteor. The character roster goes well beyond Fred himself:

Tips

• Do not chase every coin. A coin next to a hazard is rarely worth losing the run, because distance is what builds your score.
• Watch Fred's head above everything else; the skull is the part the game warns you to protect.
• Put your coins to use: they are how you buy power-ups and add characters such as Zombie Fred or Crash T. Dummy to your roster.
