Who made it and what it is

Zonda Creative Studio released Barbershop Inc. in January 2020, after their earlier Crane Madness. It is an idle game about running a hair salon. You own a small barbershop with one chair, and every finished haircut pays out cash that you put back into the business until you can open shops in other places.

How to play

Everything is done by clicking with the mouse, or tapping on a phone or tablet. The first tutorial step asks you to click the doormat, which invites customers in. A customer takes a free chair, the barber cuts their hair, and the earnings for that cut appear on screen.

What you can upgrade

Each chair has three upgrade tracks, and each one improves a different stat:

Raising these three is how a single haircut becomes worth more money, which is the main loop of the game. Barbershop Inc runs in landscape and plays on desktop as well as on phones and tablets.

When you have saved enough you can buy another chair. You can also hire a manager, who brings more customers into the shop.

Other features

• Hairstyles: a hairstyle board where you unlock new cuts for your customers. One board is for choosing the style you offer, and a second board is for upgrading styles you already own.
• Chests: blue and gold chests that hand out rewards.
• Gifts: a gift button with a timed reward.
• Achievements: a panel of goals.
• New cities: once the first shop earns enough, a city button lets you open a shop somewhere new.

Tips

• Spread money across the chair, clipper and comb instead of maxing one, since each improves a different part of a haircut.
• Check the gift button and the achievements panel now and then for free rewards.
• If you want a fresh start, the settings include an option to delete your current progress.
