What Cartoon Mini Racing is

Cartoon Mini Racing is a small-car arcade racer that has been on Poki since March 2019, where it is credited to Brain Software. You pick a brightly painted toy-like car and race a pack of rivals on twisting courses, viewed from a camera that sits above and behind your car. Each race starts from a grid with a big "GO" painted on the screen, and the goal is simply to cross the line ahead of everyone else.

Controls

• Arrow keys: drive and steer the car.
• H: resets your car, which puts you back on the road if you get stuck or knocked off.

Cartoon Mini Racing is built for a keyboard on a computer; Poki does not list it as a mobile game.

Tracks and scenery

The courses change look from level to level. The game's own promotional art shows a narrow wooden bridge over open water, a desert road lined with cacti and red-and-white kerbs, a snowy mountain section with a plank bridge, and a stretch past a pagoda-style building under a pink blossom tree. Poki sums the routes up as roads, bridges and mountains.

Progress, cars and modes

Winning is how you move forward. Finishing first opens the next level, and you can also buy new cars, which raise your speed. The menus include a "Buy new" button for this.

There is a two-player racing mode for taking on a friend, and the game files contain separate win screens for an arcade race and a time trial.

Tips

• Press H as soon as you are wedged against a wall or off the track; it puts the car back on the road.
• Aim for first place every time, because lower finishes do not unlock the next level.
• Spend on a faster car when you can afford one, since new vehicles are the way the game raises your top speed.
