What City Rider is
City Rider is a 3D driving game by Faramel games that arrived on Poki in March 2019. You take a sports car out into a busy city, weave between the other cars on the road, and open it up on the highway. The appeal is the drive itself: a fast car, a lot of traffic, and room to roam. Driving earns cash, and the cash goes back into your car.
Controls
City Rider is made for a computer keyboard.
- Steer, accelerate and reverse: W, A, S, D or the arrow keys
- Brake: Space
- Switch between cars: 1 and 2
- Turn signals: Q for left, E for right
- Change camera: C
The indicator keys are not needed to win anything, but they are a nice touch if you like to drive properly through the city traffic.
Driving in the city
The streets are full of other vehicles, so most of your time is spent reading traffic and finding the next gap. Out on the open highway you can hold the throttle down for longer stretches. The car is built on a physics model with wheel slip and skid marks, so taking a corner too fast makes the back end step out.
Earnings from driving are spent on upgrades for your ride. The build also includes a nitro boost for short bursts of extra speed.
Tips
- Brake with Space before a turn, not in the middle of it.
- Look further down the road in heavy traffic; the gap you need is usually two cars ahead.
- Save the boost for straight sections of highway, where there is room to use the extra speed.
- If a camera view makes it hard to judge distance, press C until you find one that works for you.
