Forgotten Hill The Wardrobe, listed on Poki as Forgotten Hill: The Wardrobe, is a horror point-and-click puzzle game from FM Studio, which has several other Forgotten Hill games on Poki. It came out on Poki in April 2021 and is told over five chapters. The title screen opens on Chapter I, subtitled "Other Friends", with a Play button, a language flag in the top-left corner and small buttons for info, sound and music.

The story

The game opens with a storybook-style intro on old parchment pages. The narrator explains that he and his brother Waylon grew up fairly isolated but never felt lonely, because they always played together. This year the narrator started at a new school that only lets him come home once a month, and he worried that Waylon would feel alone without him. On arriving home he is told that Waylon is ill and has been confined to his room.

From there the house of the Anderson family becomes the playing field. Strange creatures are tied to Waylon's illness and want him in a deadly game of their own, and a mysterious wardrobe in one of the rooms sits at the centre of it all. Your task is to explore, solve the puzzles and find a way to cure your brother.

How to play

Everything is done by clicking with a mouse or tapping on a touch screen. The first room after the intro is a dim hallway with a closed door, a potted plant with red flowers and a framed drawing of a skull-like mask on the wall. A gold pointer at the edge of the screen leads on to the next view. Click an object of interest to pick it up and it drops into the inventory bar along the bottom, which has pointers at both ends for scrolling when it fills up. To use an item, select it in the inventory and then click the thing you want to use it on, such as a lock, a door or another object.

The gear icon in the top-left corner opens the options, and the question-mark icon in the top-right gives hints when you are stuck. The intro pages also have a skip button if you are replaying.

What the puzzles involve

The game's scripts include a piano puzzle where you repeat a sequence of keys, a set of gems and gem markers, symbols, flowers and discs, along with hiding places scattered around the house.

Tips

• Click everything in a new room, including pictures, plants and furniture.
• Check the inventory after every pickup and try items on anything that looks locked or incomplete.
• Use the hint button rather than clicking at random if you are stuck for a long time.
