What Life The Game is

Life The Game (listed on Poki as Life - The Game, by the studio Ohmaigawd) squeezes a whole lifetime into a chain of short, silly minigames. You start as a baby and finish at the end of the road, and every stage of life in between is one quick task with a timer. Some stages go smoothly, some go badly, and the jokes come from how ordinary life events get turned into tiny arcade challenges.

How to play

Everything is done with the mouse. Move the pointer and left-click to interact; several stages ask you to drag an item and drop it in the right place. The keyboard is not used at all. Each stage opens with a short title card such as "GET BORN!", "TALK!", "STUDY!", "PUBERTY!", "SPORTS!" or "INTERN!", and after it ends you get a result screen and a button to carry on to the next part of life. A tutorial hand shows you what to do the first time.

The stages of a life

The game files list the scenes in order, so this is the path your character follows:

1. Birth – click to help the baby arrive.
2. Talk – learning to speak, with musical notes and a stretch-and-tap prompt.
3. School – a drag-and-drop maths test with sums such as 12+5, the square root of 9 and 5x4. Get it right for an A-plus, wrong for an F-minus.
4. Puberty – braces and pimples to pop.
5. Find her – a parody dating app with LIKE and NOPE choices and an "it's a match" screen.
6. Sports – a beer pong throw where you try to dunk the ball.
7. Intern – make the boss a coffee. The counter holds coffee, milk and sugar, but also salt, pepper, egg, tomato, cheese and a screw, so pick carefully.
8. Marriage – suit up by choosing a shirt, trousers and shoes.
9. Kids, then Midlife – a shopping list asks for a new car, a travel ticket and weights, while beer, candy and other temptations sit nearby.
10. Grandchildren and Pills – drag the grandkids around, then sort grandpa's pills into the right boxes.

The last scene closes the life and leads to the credits.

Arcade minigames

Apart from the life story there is an arcade menu with four standalone minigames: Burger Madness (stack bun, lettuce, tomato and cheese in the right order), Study Session (tap away distractions), Travel Puzzles (fill a grid with coloured blocks to reveal a photo) and Rainbow Melody (repeat a sequence of notes on a xylophone).

Tips

• Every stage is timed, so read the prompt on the title card and act straight away.
• In the coffee and midlife stages, most of the items on screen are traps. Only take what the task asks for.
• If one stage keeps beating you, the result screen can offer a skip so you can see the rest of the life.
