Blumgi Dragon — Play Free Online

Blumgi Dragon is an arena action game by Blumgi, a studio with several games on Poki. You play a small dragon whose friends have been captured by explosive bomb creatures, and each level is a compact arena where you clear out the enemies and free the prisoners. What makes it different is how you move: the dragon does not walk or jump in the usual way. It spits a fireball, and a second press teleports it to wherever that fireball has landed.

Fire, then teleport

Every action uses the same input. On a computer that is a mouse click or the space bar; on a phone or tablet it is a tap. The first press launches a fireball, which can blast any enemy it reaches. The second press moves your dragon instantly to the fireball's position. Getting around therefore means thinking in two steps: where will the shot land, and is that a safe place to stand?

The game files also contain a kick move for the dragon.

Playing with a friend

Blumgi Dragon can be played alone or by two people at the same computer. The two modes keep separate progress, so a co-op pair starts from the first level even if you have gone far on your own. The build stores a level limit of one hundred, and stages are grouped into worlds that you reach through a map screen.

Enemies, hazards and dragons

The bomb enemies do not just sit still. Between them they carry ordinary guns, a bigger gun, homing missiles and pink gum shots, some of which can trap your dragon in a bubble. The arenas add spinning saws, bumpers that bounce you away, moving platforms, ropes, breakable bricks and water.

You are not stuck with one look. The game has 24 dragon skins, each given a rarity, and a skin menu where you pick the one to play as. The files also mention a King Dragon and a crown. Among the on-screen messages are "LEVEL CLEARED!" and a roaring "ROAAARRRR!".

Tips

• Never teleport blindly. Watch where the fireball comes to rest before pressing again, especially near saws and water.
• Use the fireball as an attack and a ride at once: a shot that lands on an enemy clears it and gives you somewhere to jump to.
• Keep an eye on the gum shooters, since their shots can trap your dragon in a bubble.
• In two-player mode, split the arena between you instead of both chasing the same target.
• If a level keeps ending badly, try a different first shot. The opening landing spot often decides how the rest goes.
