About Brushbattle

Brushbattle is a drawing race made by BrightSpike and released on Poki in September 2024. Each round gives you a word, you sketch it on the canvas, and the game's recogniser tries to work out what you drew. Whoever gets their picture recognised first takes the round, which means a quick, clear outline often beats a slow, detailed one. The word list is long and covers everyday things such as an alarm clock, a backpack, a banana, a bathtub or an ambulance.

How to play

Click and drag with the mouse to draw. On a phone or tablet, draw with your finger instead. When a round starts the word appears on screen; draw it until the game announces that it has guessed your picture, or until time runs out. In Practice, a Skip button moves you on when a word is too awkward.

Game modes

• Battle: you face other players, and the first to win three brushes takes the match. Finishing positions earn gold, silver or bronze medals.
• Speed: draw five words as fast as you can. There is a daily record to chase, your rank for the day is shown, and the word set changes every few hours.
• Practice: no pressure and no opponents, just words to draw at your own pace.
• Guess: the roles flip, and you try to name someone else's drawing before the others do.
• Levels: a ladder of stages that unlocks new rewards as you level up.
• Play Friends: Battle Friends and Guess Friends rooms that you join or share with an invite code.

A short tutorial walks you through a first drawing and ends with a reward.

Brushes, colours and stats

Brushes are the game's currency. You win them in matches and spend them in the Colors menu, where the paint styles include black, red, green, blue, purple, yellow and orange, plus special looks called Rainbow, Gold, Colorful, Laser, Stars and Watercolor. Some items ask for a run of daily logins (a day streak) instead of brushes. The Stats screen tracks Battle wins, Speed times, brushes earned and your current streak, and Settings lets you switch sound, music and vibration on or off and change the language.

Tips

• Aim for an accurate outline of the object, such as the curve of a banana. The game can recognise a picture before it is complete, so accuracy matters more than finishing every detail.
• Keep drawing until the round ends; until someone is recognised or the time is up, another stroke can still win it.
• Use Practice, which has no opponents, to try out common words before you play Battle or Speed.
• In Guess mode, name the object as soon as you are fairly sure; waiting for a finished picture gives the other players time to answer first.
