Color Crash — Play Free Online

Color Crash is a colour-matching driving game by KasSanity, a developer based in Canada who also made Color Car, Spin Escape and Dashy Square. It is built in Unity and published on Poki.

The rule that matters

Your car rolls down a road lined with coloured obstacles, and the whole game rests on one rule: you may only crash into obstacles that are the same colour as your car. Matching blocks are the ones you are meant to smash through, and that is how you move from one level to the next. The catch is that your car does not stay one colour. It changes as you drive, so a lane that was safe a moment ago can turn into the one you must avoid.

Controls

Use the left and right arrow keys to move your car across the road. The car drives forward by itself, so steering is all you do. The game files also contain swipe and tap handling for touch screens.

Levels, speed and score

The game opens with a tutorial and then moves through numbered levels, each a stretch of road you need to clear to reach the next. A speed multiplier is shown on screen, and a speed boost pick-up knocks obstacles out of your way and pushes you forward fast. Clean hits are marked as "Perfect" and chained into combos, and your best result is saved, with a "New Best" banner when you beat it.

The roads run past suburban houses, a downtown area, a gas station and an abandoned house, with traffic such as a police car, lorries and a cement truck, plus road blocks, warning cones and traffic lights along the way.

Unlocks

New characters can be unlocked from the game-over screen, and the car can be dressed in different skins.

Tips

• Watch your own car's colour as much as the road. Every change of colour changes which obstacles are safe.
• Use the speed boost when the road ahead is crowded, since it clears obstacles out of your path.
