About Court Kings 3D

Court Kings 3D is a one-on-one street basketball game and the first Poki release from André Elias, in July 2024. Two players share an outdoor court set in a small city, and the job is simple: outscore the other player before the match ends. Poki describes the matches as short, three minutes each, played against the computer or a friend.

Controls

• Move: WASD or the arrow keys.
• Shoot or intercept: spacebar. With the ball it takes a shot; without it, it tries to intercept.

On a phone or tablet the game shows its own instruction: drag to move, and press the on-screen button to shoot and block.

Timing your release

Every shot is graded when it leaves your hands. The game rates a release as bad, good or perfect, so the moment you let go matters as much as where you stand. The game also has a shot clock and out of bounds calls.

Modes

The version served here offers three choices from the main menu:

• Play Online: the game searches for an opponent and, when one is found, starts a match. Matches against the computer are labelled "vs AI".
• Two-player: two people on the same device play head to head, with a "Player 1 wins!" or "Player 2 wins!" screen at the end.
• Practice: a separate mode for practising on the court.

Poki's listing also mentions a Tournament mode in which the town mayor invites the best local players to compete for the title of champion, with the final as the last step.

Customising your player

You can edit your player's name and look. The shop has shirts plus options for skin colour and shirt colour, and items can be previewed, bought with coins and then equipped. The end-of-match screen can offer a "Multiply x2" coin reward, and there is a daily reward you can claim once a day by watching a video. The settings cover graphics quality (low, medium or high), anti-aliasing, shadows, volume and language.

Tips

• Work on your timing in Practice until you see "Perfect release" more often than "Bad release".
• On defence, use the spacebar to intercept rather than only following the other player around.
• Watch the shot clock so you get a shot away before it runs out.
