About Blockheads

Blockheads is a blocky first-person shooter from Skullcap Studios, the team behind Blockpost and Blockpost Legacy. It came out on Poki in February 2024. Matches are short online battles in pixel-textured arenas, and every character is built from cubes, from the clown-masked fighter on the menu screen to the red and blue team skins in the matches.

Controls

Walk with the WASD keys (the arrow keys work too) and aim with the mouse. The left mouse button fires, the R key reloads your current gun, and the spacebar jumps. On phones and tablets each of these actions gets its own button on the screen, so the game can be played without a keyboard.

Game modes

The game files list three modes:

• Gun Game: each takedown moves you on to the next weapon, and the first player to get through the whole list to the final gun wins.
• Team game: a red team against a blue team on a team deathmatch map.
• Sniper: a separate mode listed alongside the other two.

Weapons

The arsenal mixes pistols, submachine guns, rifles, machine guns and sniper rifles. Among them are the Desert Eagle, USP, Tec-9 and R8 revolver; the MP5SD, MP7, P90, UMP and Kriss Vector; the AK47, M4A1, HK416, AUG, FAMAS and Galil; the M249 and M60; and the AWP, SV98, Scout and Vintorez. Some guns carry scopes such as a sniper scope, an ACOG or an Aimpoint red dot. Weapon skins with names like Iceflame can be bought in the shop, and crates can be opened for random items.

Upgrades

Between matches you can level up abilities that give you an edge in the next fight: more maximum health, health regeneration, extra speed, more ammo, and a vampire-style perk that recovers health when you damage an enemy. The menu shows the level of each ability, with a button to level it up.

Tips

• In Gun Game, each weapon only lasts until your next takedown, so learn how every type handles instead of waiting for a favourite.
• Reload with R during quiet moments rather than in the middle of a fight.
• Pick an upgrade that suits your style: regeneration and the vampire perk keep you fighting longer, while speed helps you reach cover sooner.
• Use walls and corners as cover, especially once you have levelled up regeneration, so you can recover between fights.
