A camping trip that goes wrong

Survivor Z is a zombie survival shooter by MadeByChaz, and it was the developer's first game on Poki when it launched there in April 2024. The set-up is short and silly: you head out to the forest for a holiday, sit down with a burger, and before the first bite a horde of zombies (the game calls them "zeds") comes for you. From then on the goal of each run is simply to stay alive while the waves get harder.

How to play

You move your survivor with WASD, or you can steer with the mouse instead. The guns have unlimited ammo, so you never have to hunt for bullets. The game runs on computers as well as phones and tablets.

Every zed you knock out leaves behind a pickup that counts toward your next level. Collect enough and you level up, which lets you choose one stat to improve. Looking through the game files, the upgradeable stats are max health, fire rate, movement speed, shot damage, shot range and pickup range for experience. Bigger zombies called Bigga Zeds turn up among the regular ones, and there are rations to eat along the way.

Weapons and characters

The build contains four weapon setups: a single Pistol, Dual Pistols, a Shotgun and Uzis. Two named characters appear in the files, Keene and Rory, and Rory is unlocked by watching an ad.

Accolades

Accolades are optional challenges with their own names. A few of them:

First Zed: knock out your first zombie.
Movin' Up: buy your first upgrade.
Bigga Zed: knock out one of the big ones.
Victory! and Quint-Victory!: finish your first run, then finish five.
King of the Zeds: complete three runs in a row.
Trigger Finger and Maximum Damage: finish a run with fire rate or shot damage fully upgraded.
Rationality: eat a large number of rations.
Holiday Begins: reach full game completion.

The stats screen keeps running totals of zeds knocked out, shots fired, rations eaten, upgrades unlocked and victories, along with your current win streak.

Tips

Pick up the experience drops quickly; raising pickup range makes this much easier.
Decide on a plan for your level-ups. Two accolades reward a run with fire rate or shot damage fully upgraded, so stacking one stat pays off.
