About Bearsus

Bearsus, subtitled "Bear Knuckle Fighting", is a fighting game in which wrestling bears brawl in a series of arenas. It was developed by Entrevero Games in 2022 and was the studio's first game on Poki. The whole game is played with two directional buttons, and the jokes are bear puns from top to bottom: the pause screen reads "Paws", a tie-break shows "Can bearly wait!", and another screen reads "Congrowltulations!"

The roster is made up of wrestling bears with Spanish ring names such as El Poderoso, El Fabuloso, El Musculoso, El Peligroso and El Tenebroso. Eight of them are playable, each with its own mix-and-match set of moves.

Controls

Everything comes from two keys: A and D, or the Left and Right arrows. A single press moves and jumps; pressing the keys in short sequences turns that into attacks:

The game includes a tutorial that teaches these inputs. On a phone or tablet the game switches to touch pads on the screen, and its code also includes gamepad support for the menus and the character select.

Modes

• Arcade Mode – fight your way through five opposing bears. Winning here unlocks new fighters and new colour palettes for them.
• 2-Player Mode – a local match against a friend.
• Endless Mode – keep fighting for as long as you can, with your health carried over from one round to the next. The game records a best result for each bear as well as an overall best.

The game files also contain a Rivals Mode and a "New game mode unlocked" message, so not every mode is open from the first match. If you lose, you can watch an ad to retry the fight.

Tips

• Practice the double-tap inputs until they feel natural: one tap is movement, two taps are an attack.
• Learn Attack 3. It can only be used in the air, after a double jump, so the two double-jump inputs are your way into it.
• In Endless Mode, every hit you take stays with you into the next round, so avoiding damage matters more than in Arcade.
• Try different bears in Arcade, since each one has a different set of moves.
