About Draw Pixel Art

Draw Pixel Art is a pixel-painting game by Kzunec Games, released on Poki in April 2024 as the studio's first game there. Each level gives you a small sample picture and an empty grid of square cells. You recreate the sample by colouring the cells one at a time until your grid is an exact copy. The finished pictures are cute retro-style drawings, and the game offers over 30 of them.

The game is built for a portrait screen and plays with a mouse on a computer or with taps on a phone or tablet, since the build supports both mouse and touch input.

How a level works

1. Look at the sample picture for the level.
2. Click a colour in the tray to make it your current colour.
3. Click cells on the grid to paint them with that colour.
4. When the grid looks right, click "ok". The game compares your work with the sample and tells you whether the copy is correct.

The build also contains a fill tool, shown with its own icon, a grid button, and a short tutorial for new players.

Levels, stars and progress

Pictures are arranged as a list of levels. Locked levels carry a lock icon and open as you finish earlier ones, and the level list shows stars for pictures you have completed. Your progress is saved in the browser's local storage, so a returning player can continue from the last level reached. Once the whole list is done, the game shows a note that new levels will be available soon.

The background music in the game is credited to LesFM.

Tips

• Paint by colour, not by area. Pick one colour, paint every cell that needs it, then move to the next. You spend less time going back to the tray.
• Count from the edges. Find a cell's position by counting in from the nearest side of the sample rather than judging by eye.
• Compare before pressing "ok". Scan the sample row by row against your grid. The check is looking for an exact copy, so one stray cell matters.

Who will enjoy it

Poki lists the game among its drawing and decoration games. It needs no drawing ability at all; the challenge is careful copying. That makes it a relaxed pick for younger players and for anyone who enjoys colour-by-number books.
